Downloaded music and podcasts play automatically when you lose internet, Spotify also offers Offline Mode to make sure only your downloads play. Spotify Offline mode ensures that only downloaded music and podcasts are played, so listening to Spotify won't eat up your data when you're out with a cellular connection.

Note: You need subscribe to Spotify Premium to enable offline mode on Spotify. Make sure you have downloaded music or podcasts for offline playback. Spotify free users doesn’t have the Offline Mode option.

In Offline Mode, you can only play music you’ve downloaded, so you need to download Spotify songs to your devices before set Spotify to offline mode. Only Premium users can download songs from Spotify.

Download Spotify playlist on Mac/Windows:

Go to the playlist you want to download.
Switch Download on .

A green arrow indicates the download was successful. It’s not possible to download albums or podcasts in the desktop app.
