9 Things You Need to Know about Spotify

1. Offline Listening with Spotify Premium

Spotify Premium users can download playlists, albums, and podcasts for offline listening. This means you can enjoy your favorite music, even without an internet connection. Simply download content to your phone, tablet, or desktop. Free users can only download podcasts.

2. Download Individual Songs with Playlists

Spotify only allows you to download playlists and albums. To download a single song on Spotify, you must first add it to a playlist and then download the entire playlist.

3. Spotify Offline Songs: App-Only Access

Downloaded songs are cached files and can only be played within the Spotify app on the device where they were downloaded. You won't find audio files in the offline storage folder.

4. Device and Song Limits for Offline Downloads

You can download Spotify music for offline listening on up to 5 devices simultaneously, with a maximum of 10,000 songs per device. If you're unable to download new content, check if you've reached this limit. To download on a 6th device, remove downloads from one of the existing ones.

5. Storage Space Required for Music Downloading

Before downloading songs, ensure your device has sufficient storage space. At least 1GB is recommended for optimal offline listening.

6. Stay Connected for Active Subscriptions

To keep your downloaded songs, your account must be online at least once every 30 days. This allows Spotify to verify your subscription status and prevent the removal of your offline content.

7. Spotify Reinstallation Removes Downloads

If you reinstall Spotify, downloaded songs will be removed from your device. To enjoy your offline music again, you'll need to redownload the content.

8. Spotify Offline Mode

Spotify Premium users can automatically play downloaded content when losing an internet connection. Enable Offline Mode in the app to ensure only downloaded songs are played. This feature is available on both mobile and desktop.
